Provides a natural finish that protects wood against moisture and sun damage. Fortified with PENETROL for excellent penetration. Recommended for use on any properly prepared exterior wood, including decks, fences, siding, railings, outdoor furniture and other wood surfaces. Apply to new, dry, pressure-treated wood, uncoated new or weathered wood, or wood previously stained or painted. Apply directly to weathered wood previously finished with FLOOD CWF-UV; other previous coatings must be completely removed.

Features:

  • Acrylic/Oil resin provides durability of acrylic and richness of penetrating alkyd
  • Fortified with Penetrol additive to drive protection below the surface
  • Water repellent
  • Provides a mildew-resistant finish
  • Easy soap and water clean-up

COVERAGE: One gallon (3.78 Liters) will normally cover 150 to 250 sq. ft. (13.9 to 23.2 sq. meters). Coverage will vary due to porosity and texture of wood and application technique.

DRYING TIME:

  • To Touch: 4 hours. Normally dries to the touch in four hours when applied in optimal temperatures of 50°F to 90°F (10°C to 32°C). Application in high humidity or in temperatures below 50°F (10°C) may prolong drying time.
  • Return to service: Allow 24 to 48 hours of drying time before light foot traffic and 72 hours before replacing furniture. Allow new stain to cure 30 days before washing.
  • To Recoat: Wet-on-wet before first coat has dried.

SURFACE PREP: Surface must be dry and clean. Remove all dust, dirt, mildew, oil, loose wood fibers and other contaminants. Use Wood Stripper to remove any previous coatings. Previous coatings must be completely removed. To ensure proper adhesion, weathered, dirty or mildewed surfaces should be cleaned with Wood Cleaner prior to applying product. After rinsing, allow wood to dry. Remove grade stamps or pencil marks by sanding.

APPLICATION: Apply when no precipitation is expected for 48 hours, and when air and surface temperatures are 50°F to 90°F (10°C to 32°C) and will remain above 50°F (10°C) for the next 48 hours. Avoid staining in direct sunlight or on hot surfaces. DO NOT THIN. Intermix containers to ensure color uniformity. Stir thoroughly and often during use. Apply to a small area and allow stain to dry to ensure acceptable appearance.  Apply one thin coat with a high quality brush, roller, paint or stain-pad, or with spray equipment. When applying by roller or spray, always back-brush for best results. Apply second coat wet-on-wet before the first coat has dried. Two coat application is recommended for optimal performance. To help avoid lap marks, apply to only a few boards at a time, and maintain a wet edge. Do not saturate or puddle on horizontal surfaces. Wipe up or brush out any puddles within 20 minutes to avoid shiny areas.

LIMITATIONS:  While this product provides a mildew resistant coating, growth may still occur if the substrate is not properly prepared prior to painting and/or if the substrate is consistently exposed to conditions conducive to mold, mildew, and algae. Examples of these conditions include, but are not limited to, under eaves, behind shrubbery and trees, and in areas that are consistently damp with little to no direct sunlight. FOR EXTERIOR USE ONLY. PROTECT FROM FREEZING.
