Rust Arrestor is a water-based, film-forming primer that chemically transforms rust, halting the corrosion process and enabling the surface to accept a topcoat. When applied over tightly adhering rust, it forms a black, protective film.

  • Chemically converts rust to inhibit corrosion.
  • Forms a tight chemical bond to rusted surfaces.
  • Penetrates into tight areas.
  • Suitable for use in USDA inspected facilities.
  • Can be top coated with latex, alkyd, urethane, or epoxy finishes.

RECOMMENDED FOR: Steel & Iron. Corotech® Rust Arrestor is to be applied on tight adhering rusted steel surfaces such as structural steel, angle iron, conveyors, pipes, valves, fittings, duct work, fences, guard rails, wrought iron, grating, equipment, outdoor sign supports and frame work, tanks, etc.

SURFACE PREPARATION:  Remove loose rust, mill scale, failing paint, dust, dirt and any other surface contaminants by scraping or wire brush. If there is oil or grease on the surface, remove these contaminates by washing the surface with Corotech® V600 Oil & Grease Emulsifier. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and allow it to dry. IMPORTANT: There must be tight adhering rust present on the surface to be primed or the rust conversion process will not occur. If Corotech® Rust Arrestor turns black (usually within 30 minutes) the conversion process was successful and a top-coat can be applied in 4 to 6 hours. If Corotech® Rust Arrestor does not turn black, allow a minimum of 24 hours dry time before top-coating or “bleeding” may occur.

APPLICATION:  Shake this product well before beginning the application process. Corotech® Rust Arrestor may be applied by brush, roller or spray. For brush or roller application, pour Corotech® Rust Arrestor into a non-metallic container and apply the product evenly over the tight adhering rusted surface. The product will dry to a black film in about thirty minutes. Do not return any unused working material to the original container or contamination of the converter will occur and render the material unusable.

Corotech® Rust Arrestor may be applied by airless, HVLP or conventional spray. Apply the product quickly and clean the equipment immediately after completion. Flush the equipment with clean water, particularly all metal parts coming into contact with the converter. Apply when air and surface temperatures are between 50 °F and 90 °F. Do not apply if rain is threatening.
